The Logan World and Logan Open Color Guards competed at the WGI Regional last Saturday, March 10. Forty-five guard units participated in this Regional competition, which was held at James Logan High School.

Logan World Guard as….Warriors of Qin

 

Dramatic, brilliant, precise…simply awesome, these are just a few words how we can best describe the Logan World Guard’s performance. The group rocked the Guy Emmanuel Pavilion when they performed their program, “Warriors of Qin” in the Preliminary competition. From their costume, make-up and their props, the World Guard looked every inch the world champion that they are. Their Chinese-inspired program was truly dramatic and the choreography was artistic, imaginative and innovative. The music captivated the audience and punctuated by the precise tossing of the rifles, sabers and flags. This performance earned them a high score of 90.8 in the Preliminary competition.

 

At the finals competition later in the evening, the World Guard not only repeated their brilliant performance but also increased their intensity. The audience was amazed and gave them a well-deserved standing ovation.

 

The final scores in the Scholastic World Class is as follows – (1) James Logan – 92.6; (2) Leigh –81.50; (3) Beyer – 81.5; (4) Clovis West – 75.90; (5) Oak Grove – 71.40

 

 

Earth, Wind and Fire…presented by Logan Open Guard

 

 

The Logan Open Guard performed their upbeat program, “Earth, Wind and Fire” in the Preliminary competition with much enthusiasm. The audience was immediately captivated as they performed to the popular music of the band that inspired their program. Their earth-toned costumes enhanced the choreography, which was both exciting and full of energy. This performance earned them a score of 77.50 in the Preliminary competition.

 

In the finals competition that night, the Logan Open Guard performed with more passion and a higher level of precision. They again attracted the audience with their energetic dance routine and skills in tossing those rifles, saber and flags. This performance increased their score in the finals by 2.6 points.

 

The final scores in the Scholastic Open Class is as follows – (1) Fairfield – 84.6; (2) Delano – 81.90; (3) James Logan – 80.10; (4) Foothill – 71.40.
