Marching Band 2004 Season, WBA 4A/5A Champion
James Logan Marching Band, 2004 Season, WBA 4A/5A Champion! In a stunning final round performance of their show, Wind Dances, the James Logan Band & Color Guard captured the WBA Class 4A/5A Sweepstakes Award with a score of 97.24! This year's championships, held at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, California, was marred by cold weather and occasional high winds. But this did not dampen the enthusiasm or excitement of the crowd as they watched our incredible performers soar to their 6th WBA Championship title in the last 8 years. Having won the preliminary round with a score of 95.1, Logan was last to perform in finals competition. The entire stadium watched in anticipation as Logan entered the field and our performers did not disappoint. Logan brought cheers from the crowd at several points during their performance with powerful music and precision marching from the band and impressive displays from the color guard. In addition to overall high points, we also won the caption awards for Best Music, Best Auxiliary, Best Visual Effect and Best General Effect. And in a special presentation, we were awarded the "Esprit de Corps Award" by the US Marine Corps, sponsors of this year's WBA Championships. Kudos to band directors Ramiro Barrera, Ken Karlin, Tony Lanzino and Vince Oliver; to guard directors Scott Chandler and Dave Meikle; and especially to all our incredible student performers on another fantastic marching season. And a very special thanks to Boosters President Lisa Mananquil and ALL the many volunteers who helped make this marching season such a tremendous success. Congratulations to one and all. See the WBA web site for a complete rundown of the scores.
