"Afternoon of Stories" with Wayne Harris will feature stories from a long running hit play "Mother's Milk" which chronicles my trips back home to St. Louis while my mother struggled with breast cancer. It is a coming of age story set in the 60s with the background of the civil rights movement, religion and a changing American landscape. In addition, I will be telling stories from the "John Henry Chronicles" a series of dramatization of old stories and new about the famous railroad legend. This piece is being created for a Language Arts Curriculum at Westlake Middle School in Oakland....also appearing will be folk dancers from Alvarado Middle School as an intermission feature. |
