Resolving Login Issues

Given the wide array of browsers available and the various options they can be configured with, it's not a realistic expectation that our website will work flawlessly for every user. We have looked into this problem extensively, and have come up with this list of things to try, in order of preference, to hopefully eliminate your login problem (TIP: use the printer icon to the right and print these instructions to reference while taking the following actions in your browser):

  1. Avoid Using Internet Explorer - If possible, we recommend using Google's Chrome Browser as it seems to work best with our site. Also working fairly problem-free are Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox users. Unfortunately, Internet Explorer does not handle our login operations well.

  2. Try using your home internet connection instead of work conection - Web proxies used by company web servers sometimes store and deliver cached information, interfering with your login. Though this may not likely be the source of your problem, it is worthwhile to try logging in from your home internet connection.

  3. Login directly to our site - Do not use the email links if you are having login problems. Instead take these actions:
    • Close your browser
    • Reopen your browser
    • Use the black login box on the left sidebar
    • Check for successful login: the black login box will change to the "Welcome, booster" message.
    • If login is successful, "student account payment", "championship payment" and other restricted links will appear in the red "Links" box (left sidebar)
    • If login is not successful, continue with following suggestions

  4. Turn off autocomplete and "remember passwords" - if your browser is set to save usernames and/or passwords (especially Internet Explorer), this can prevent successful logins, especially if your first login attempt uses a wrong username or password. The option should be turned off (contact the webmaster if you need help). While this feature is handy when it works for other sites you visit, and disabling it may not be an acceptable option, please understand that it is very possibly the source of your login problem on our site.

  5. Clear the browser cache - follow these steps to clear out the cache:
    • Open www.loganbandandcolorguard in your browser
    • Locate the "clear cache" option - here's guidance for some browsers:
      • IE8/IE9:
        • Press F12 (a new window should open)
        • Press Ctrl+D to remove the cache (removes only cache for loganbandandcolorguard.org)
      • Chrome:
        • Click the wrench icon in the upper right of the screen
        • Click "Options"
        • Click "Under the Hood (left sidebar)"
        • Click "Clear browsing data..."
        • Set "Obliterate the following items from:" to "the begginning of time"
        • Check ONLY "Empty the cache"
        • Click the "Clear browsing data" buttom at bottom of box
      • Firefox:
        • Click "Tools" in the menu
        • Click "Options"
        • Click the "Advanced" icon
        • Click the "Network" tab
        • Click the "Clear Now" button

After clearing the cache, check to see if the problem is resolved:
    • Close your browser
    • Reopen your browser
    • Use the black login box on the left sidebar
    • Check for successful login: the black login box will change to the "Welcome, booster" message.
    • If login is successful, "student account payment", "championship payment" and other restricted links will appear in the red "Links" box (left side)
    • If login is not successful, continue with following suggestions

If you still have problems after taking these actions, contact the webmaster  with an explanation of your operating system, browser, and actions taken to try and resolve the issue.
