Director: Vince Oliver

Logan Percussion Rocks the house with
"PERCUSSION INTERNATIONALE"

The James Logan HS percussion ensemble presented its spring program, "Percussion Internationale" on May 31st, in the Logan High School Theatre. This was the first all percussion concert in several years at Logan High School. The evening provided a wide variety of musical moods and styles with great playing from all. Congratulations to Mr. Vince Oliver and all our student percussionists on a great concert!

"We have spent the year -- starting last summer -- preparing an evening concert program of some very interesting and eclectic percussion ensemble music", writes Vince Oliver, the ensemble's director. He continues, "On the heels of our recent trip to Edinburgh and London, and in the spirit of international travel the program is entitled "Percussion Internationale" -- most every piece on the program taking root in a different style, and from a different country."

Program:

Farandole "Remix" - Bizet, arr. Lacomblez/Oliver
Three Asiatic Dances - George Frock

Logan Open & World Percussion at WGI Modesto Regional!

On Saturday, March 12, the Logan Open and World Concert Percussion Ensembles played at Johansen High School in Modesto, at the WGI Modesto Percussion Regional. The Open Percussion Ensemble captured 3rd place, performing a spirited rendition of "Farandole." The World Ensemble (the only Concert World Class group at the show), in their second competition of the season, performed their fiery, polyrhythmic Spanish work, "Firedance," arranged by ensemble director, Vince Oliver. The audience rewarded both of our ensembles with enthusiastic cheers and applause.

CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH OF THESE FINE ENSEMBLES. (See Pictures)
