Logan Percussion Competes at WGI Regional-Las Vegas (w/ pictures in gallery)

Logan Percussion Competes at WGI Regional-Las Vegas On March 3, 2007, a total of 52 Percussion groups converged at Palo Verde High School in Las Vegas for the 2007 WGI Percussion Regional. The competition had groups from Texas, Arizona, Nevada and a vast majority from California.

The Logan Percussion Ensemble was under class “Scholastic Marching World” and competed against four other California high schools. These were Chino Hills HS, Rancho Cucamonga HS, San Marcos HS and Thousand Oaks HS.

The preliminary competition began on Saturday and the Logan Percussion Ensemble was the second group to perform in their class. The audience was intrigued when Logan’s marching mat was uncovered and they saw the huge spider web. Barefoot and with their toenails painted black, the drumline took to their position for the start of their program, “The Spider’s Lair”. It was another strong performance, earning the group a score of 83.2 for the Preliminary competition. This score had a six-point improvement from their first competition the previous week and earning them a spot at the finals competition for the following day.

There were 34 units who competed in Finals. Upon arrival at the competition site, the group immediately began warming up and rehearsing their music. They took the floor at 1:46 pm and had another solid and impressive performance. At the awards ceremony, the group proudly accepted their plaque for Third Place in their class. The final scores were as follows: (1) Chino Hills – 87.2 (2) Rancho Cucamonga – 86.4 (3) James Logan – 83.4 (4) Thousand Oaks – 80.1 (5) San Marcos – 78.2.

Congratulations to the Logan Percussion Ensemble – Well Done!
