Minutes of China meeting, January 4th.
Download: World Project's Red Orchestra Surcharge Letter . On the final page of the actual letter, Mr. Lutt indicates he is trying to keep the cost under $4,500. Our total cost is now $4,678. We built in roughly $200 into the cost in the beginning to cover the cost of the buses to and from the airport, any cost for shipping instruments, and payment of consultants, techs and instructors for any rehearsals. After consulting with 2 attorneys, they indicated we do not have any legal recourse – especially given the language in the proposals and the discounted refund policy offered during this time. Every family needs to decide for themselves whether or not to stay on the trip and pay the surcharge or withdraw and receive a refund less $500. Our goal is to replace those withdrawing with those on the waiting list for maximum refund. However, we can’t guarantee we will have a replacement for everyone – therefore, if you withdraw, you should do so expecting to lose the $500. The letter indicates a deadline of 2-15-08. However, you will need to notify us by 2-8-08. We need to contact those who missed the deadline, those on the waiting list, create a new list and prepare payment to World Projects before the 2-15-08 deadline. You will need to contact BOTH Pam (

) and let us know if you are staying in the trip, or withdrawing. We need confirmation either way. Mr. Barrera spoke of his history with Bill Lutt and World Projects. Although this is huge increase, he is confident in the company and believes the trip will be a trip of a lifetime for the kids. Payment of the surcharge is due by 4-1-08. You can pay it in payments leading up to 4-1-08, or pay it in full on 4-1-08. 4-1-08 is the deadline for all payments to be paid in full. The original $4,010/pp, the surcharge of $668/pp, and the student accounts --- ALL need to be paid in full by then. It is important to keep in mind we will be strict with the student accounts. We do not want to cut students from the trip for non-payment of student accounts – the original refund policy would be in place at that time. I’m looking forward to hearing from all of you by Friday, 2-8-08. If you have any questions or would like clarification on anything, please feel free to contact me. |
