​Uniform Guidelines for Field Show Competition

​REMEMBER: You are judged by appearance in field show competition.  Band members are expected to follow the uniform and appearance guidelines.  You will be inspected prior to competition.

1. Your uniform must be clean and neat.  No wrinkles.
2. Under the uniform, you are responsible for supplying and wearing a long-sleeve black compression shirt that does not show at the neckline or at the cuff and black compression shorts.  
3. For each performance, you must wear clean, black socks that extend well above the ankle.   
4. Use only the black gloves that were released and sold by the Uniform Committee.  Only Drillmaster shoes are to be worn in competition.  They can be purchased from the Uniform Committee.  (Percussion does not wear gloves.)
5. Keep your marching shoes clean and polished. Your shoes must be shiny and clean at all times.  There should be no dirt or scuff marks on shoes or laces.
6. Hair cannot go past the collar of the band uniform.
7. Jewelry is not permitted.  NO jewelry (including earrings) will be worn by band members. Boys are to be clean shaven.  Guard wears uniform makeup.

If there are any uniform issues or problems at the field shows or uniformed football games, please approach the Uniform Committee.  We are here to help you and are happy to do so.  We will be at every competition and uniformed football game and have a uniform station set up.

Guard should purchase black Bloch dance sneakers (any style, as long as they are black) as part of their uniforms.  Bloch Boost dance sneakers can be purchased online at Discount Dance  (www.discountdance.com) or Amazon .  

Locally, A-1 Dance & Theatrical store in Castro Valley will give a 15% discount if you say that you are from James Logan Color Guard.

Care Instructions for Band Uniform

1. Bags are for transporting uniforms to and from performances.
2. Do not wash uniforms.
3. Do not iron.  You may use steam or wrinkle release spray.
4. Hang uniform before use to air out paint smell.  Hang after each use to air out and dry perspiration.
5. You may use Febreeze to deodorize uniform.
6. Roll uniform neatly into bag to minimize wrinkles.
7. REMINDER:  Wear black compression undergarments and black socks

Concert Attire

Gentlemen’s concert attire
​Concert black (all bands):

• Black dress shirt
• Black dress pants
• Black dress belt
• Black socks
• Black dress shoes

Formal concert attire (Symphonic Band & Wind Symphony only):

• Classic black tuxedo (jacket w/notch or peak lapel, pants w/satin stripe)
• White wing tip collar tuxedo shirt
• Traditional Black satin bow tie
• Traditional Black satin cummerbund
• Black/silver cuff links and studs
• Black socks
• Black dress shoes (no loafers)

Locally, previously rented tuxedos may be purchased from Tuxedo Wearhouse at the Great Mall of Milpitas.  The package should include jacket, pants, shirt, bow tie, and cummerbund.  Please call them first to confirm package availability and pricing.

Ladies’ Concert Attire
Concert Black (all bands):

• Black dress; black blouse, and black skirt; or black blouse and black dress pants
• Sleeves may be medium length or longer.  No sleeveless tops.
• Dress or skirt must be mid-calf or longer
• Pants should be long
• Black closed-toe dress shoes with comfortable heel height for walking on and off stage.
• Jewelry: Small necklace and/or earrings may be worn.  No bracelets, please

Formal concert attire (Symphonic Band & Wind Symphony only):

1. Long black gown; black blouse and long black skirt; or black formal pant suit
2. Sleeves must be either long or ¾ length (no short sleeve or sleeveless tops).
3. Closed toe black dress shoes with comfortable heel height for walking on and off stage.
4. Jewelry: Small necklace and/or earrings may be worn.  No bracelets, please
