Volunteer
Our program cannot function successfully without the support and involvement of the booster members. We are fortunate to have many dedicated parents who have given their time to help support our Band & Guard, but we still need to encourage more participation. All parents are encouraged to participate and volunteer at Booster fundraising events. In addition, each music program may need volunteers to help at performances or competitions.
There is an ongoing need for volunteer support for a program as big as ours at Logan. The various groups perform and travel during the entire school year and sometimes during the summer as well. Your support is important and appreciated! Through volunteering, you will get to be a part of your child's exciting band experience and gain the opportunity to get to know your fellow Boosters while supporting the organization.
We request all parents to volunteer at least 10 hours per child in Band or Color Guard.

How You Can Help:
- Attend the beginning of the parent meeting and all monthly booster meetings.
- Be a committee lead or join a committee to organize or support an activity or event.
- Volunteer to help with music program events and fundraisers. James Logan hosted events such as WBA, NCPA, and WGI regionals are significant sources of funds and require a lot of volunteers. Fundraisers such as the fireworks booth similarly require a large number of volunteers to help staff the booth. Please donate some of your time when signups are sent out.
- If you want to volunteer or have questions about how to volunteer, please contact the Booster volunteer coordinator
Committees
- Resource Team - plans and organizes fundraising events; works on public relations; encourages booster participation; and brainstorms new and exciting ideas for raising money.
- Chaperones - needed for football games and all travel. Chaperones are responsible for the safety and behavior of the students in their group.
- Sewing - works on everything having to do with our flags, guard props, and guard uniform adjustments. No sewing ability is required. Any help from cutting fabric, sewing flags, hemming guard uniforms, and ironing is needed. Sewing can be done at home.
- Props - builds and maintains props used during marching season and winter season.
- Food - responsible for planning and providing all snacks, meals, and water for the students when they are at football games, and away at competitions. This committee is also responsible for planning, preparing and working the concessions at all Logan sponsored competitions.
- Uniforms - oversees the distribution of band uniforms. Measuring, fitting students, modifying or hemming band uniforms, distributing uniforms, shakos, and ordering and distributing gloves and shoes. This committee also makes sure that the students adhere to uniform policy and make minor adjustments at shows.
- Pit Crew - helps move the “pit” equipment on and off the field during field shows. This equipment is all of the large, stationary instruments on the field (marimbas, bass drums, speakers, sound carts, etc.).
- Photo/Video - videotape each show for practice and then tape Championships for the final product. All of the videos will be combined into a Blu-ray and DVD! You must be willing to supply your own HIGH DEFINITION (1920x1080i) digital video camera and tripod, and arrive early at shows to get the right seat for your shots (either first or last rows).
- Senior Class Celebration Coordinator - coordinates Senior parents in organizing the Senior Class celebration in November. Orders Senior t-shirts, arranges for cake, cider toast, set up/clean up of event.
- Levi's Stadium - coordinates booster members and students to work in food concession stands at Levi's Stadium. Raise funds for our band while being a part of great events like SF 49er football, college football games, concerts and etc. See information about training and other requirements.
Help Fundraising
The Logan Band & Color Guard Program depends heavily on fundraising to offset costs for the many opportunities we make available to our young musicians. The school district only pays for the directors' salaries for class work. All other expenses are covered by contributions made by booster parents and money raised from fundraising. The expenses covered by donations and fundraisers includes:
